Time flies when you look back on things. I just completed my first year as a contributing member to the blogosphere, and let’s be honest, we have come a long way. This upcoming second year of Roughly Translated promises to be more focused and polished. I even bought books to help me write more good.
It is a wonderful feeling having such a great readership. I would like to thank you all for visiting and for encouraging me to continue writing, for I know all of you have many options when it comes to how you choose to distract yourself while working. I, for one, like to blow the dust off my old physics books and calculate geodesics from my office (a table in the living room) to the kitchen, the bathroom, bedroom and couch. Of course, I would be remiss if I did not do some statistical analysis to corroborate my findings, thus frequent snacks, pee breaks, naps and naps are commonplace. Oh, and I read your blog, too.
Some things you can all look forward to during the next 12 months of what basically equates to a 21st-century version of scribbling on the walls of a cave.
- Shorter, tighter, neater, more concise, more focused, tidier, wittier and less-wordy posts
- Fewer adjectives
- More pictures of the cats
- Five posts in Spanish
- More posts related to language and translation
- Fewer incomplete plays
- More lists

I didn’t notice anything wrong with your writing, so not sure why you feel you must improve it 😉 But if you have fewer adjectives, does that mean an increase of adverbs will be coming?

Thanks for the comment and the warm words 🙂 The part about improving my writing is more of a personal goal and since I like doing it so much, I figured that I may as well get better at it. Few adjectives hopefully will not beget more adverbs. As Stephen King says, “The road to hell is paved with adverbs.” Hehe.
